It was only through the unwavering loyalty and keen senses of her partially blind dog, Max, that Aurora’s survival and subsequent rescue became possible.
Following Aurora’s disappearance, a rescue operation was swiftly organized, with over 100 individuals, including police officials and local community members, joining forces to search for the young girl. Enduring 15 long hours of uncertainty, the search team’s efforts finally paid off when Aurora was found safe and sound.
Throughout the ordeal, Aurora had to endure harsh conditions, spending a cold and wet night barefoot without access to food or water. However, it was her grandmother, Leisa Bennett, who ultimately played a pivotal role in her rescue. Spotting Max atop a steep mountain, Bennett instinctively knew that Aurora must be nearby.
Racing up the mountain, Bennett followed Max’s lead until the faithful Blue Heeler led her straight to Aurora, facilitating a long-awaited reunion. Remarkably, when Aurora was finally located, she was in reasonably good health, with only minor injuries sustained from her night in the wilderness.
